Power Problems

VPC-F1 power up but dies 3 seconds later

We just had a VPCF Series laptop in the office with this power problem. When we opened it up we found visibly the chip labelled PQ2 was blown so bad we could not tell which chip it was or what numbers were written on the chips. We managed to look though a few old boards and replace it with one from a VGN-AR which was also around the power socket. it had 4433 BV9U1D written on it. This seems to be a common component Sony use,
We whipped this off and replaced it onto the F Motherboard and wola it booted and stayed on. Not sure what caused this fault in the first place or why it didn’t blow any fuses. Sony motherboards are usually fused pretty well.
